Mr. James Baggie Bio, the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), is making significant progress in improving road safety across the country. Recently, he met with Gilbert Zhao, CEO of Leone Rock Metal Group, to seek support for essential logistical needs that will strengthen the Authority’s efforts.
During their meeting, Mr. Bio discussed his latest initiative to deploy a tow truck and personnel at Mile 91, aimed at monitoring and enhancing safety along the Masiaka-Mile 91 highway corridor. He explained that this initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to address the increasing number of road traffic incidents and to ensure a safe travel experience for commuters.
In response, Mr. Zhao praised Mr. Bio for his proactive leadership and the swift actions taken since his appointment. He recognized that safer roads are fundamental to national development and expressed strong support for the Authority’s mission.
As part of Leone Rock’s corporate social responsibility, the company donated six TVS motorbikes and office equipment, including computers and printers, to assist the SLRSA with its road safety campaigns. Furthermore, Mr. Zhao pledged ongoing partnership support, which includes the printing and distribution of road safety signs, flyers, and stickers along key routes, such as Lungi to Gbere, Makeni to Magburaka, and Masiaka to Freetown.
This collaboration aligns with Mr. Bio’s 100-day action plan to transform road safety in Sierra Leone. He emphasized that these efforts are not only focused on reducing accidents but also contribute to broader national development.
