Welcome Statement From The Executive Director

Welcome to the Official Website of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority. The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority is the lead Road Safety Management Agency in Sierra Leone with additional responsibility to regulate and develop the road transport sector by an Act of Parliament in 1996 as the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (S.L.R.T.A).

In an effort to enhance service delivery and to reflect global priorities as enshrined in the UN Decade Action(2011-2012), which required greater commitment to road safety management, the parliament of Sierra Leone approved the Sierra Leone Road Safety Act in December 2014 in replacement of the S.L.R.T.A Act of 1996. The rebranding enabled the authority to focus primarily on effective road safety management without abandoning the original core functions

of registering and licensing of drivers, motor vehicles and enforcing road safety.
