It is mandatory for all vehicles involved in any type of read traffic accident to be submitted at the request of the Police to the Road Safety Authority for thorough examination to determine the cause of accident and the extent of damage sustained by the vehicle and the post accident condition of the vehicle.
Why you have to submit your vehicle to the Road safety Authority after it has been involved in an accident
When an accident occurs the Traffic Police are mandated to investigate the cause of the accident. One of the aspects of the investigation is to determine the cause of the accident and the extent of damage suffered by the vehicle or vehicles. The findings of the vehicle examiner may be used in prosecuting the Matter in a court of law to apportion blame where the blame lies.

Examination of vehicle for thepurpose of valuation
It is at time necessary for a used vehicle to be sold by the owner especially vehicles belonging to the Government or to some establishment or sometimes vehicles belonging to individual persons. The Road Safety Authority examines these vehicles and are able to give a value to the vehicle to serve as a guide to the vendor in fixing a price for the vehicle.
How to present your vehicle for valuation
You will take the vehicle to the Road Safety Authority head office along Kissy Road or to any of the RSA stations in Freetown or the Provinces and request the Examiner in writing to examine and evaluate your vehicle.
Will I be required to pay for these services?
Yes, you will be required to pay the prescribed fee at the bank and you will be given a receipt which you will present to the Examiner. The Examiner will proceed to examine your vehicle.
